The story

Designed in 1778 by Nicolò Palma, it was the city's first public garden, open to all citizens. The plan is geometric, with four avenues converging on a circular space holding the fountain with Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia's dodecahedral sundial. Sculptural groups stand in the exedrae, including Ignazio Marabitti's Genius of Palermo. Goethe visited it in 1787.
