The story

Built around 1160 for Maio of Bari, Grand Admiral of the Norman kingdom. It was never decorated because its patron was assassinated before completion: what remains is the pure structure, with three red domes, a crenellated crown and double-arched windows. Inside are the original opus sectile floor and a 12th-century altar. Since 1937 it has been entrusted to the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.
