The story

Begun in 1582 at the wish of viceroy Marcantonio Colonna and named after his wife Felice Orsini, it was only completed in 1637. It consists of two monumental pylons with no connecting arch. It marks the eastern end of the Cassaro, where the street opens towards the sea, and hinges the historic centre to the Foro Italico promenade.
