The story
A working-class district that grew up in the 19th century between the Politeama and the port, it has a neighbourhood food market with fruit, vegetable, fish and meat stalls. In recent years it has become a fixture of Palermo's evening life, with open-air grills, kiosks and informal bars used mainly by residents. It is also one of the city's most heavily muralled districts.
