The story
Active since the Islamic period in the Albergheria district, it winds for hundreds of metres through alleys and small squares. Stalls of fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, spices and street food alternate with fry shops and kiosks. In recent decades it has become the heart of multicultural Palermo, with Bangladeshi, Tamil, Ghanaian and North African communities working alongside Palermitan traders.
