The story
Built between 1899 and 1902 to a design by Ernesto Basile for Ignazio Florio junior, it is considered one of the masterpieces of European Art Nouveau. The structure combines asymmetrical volumes, turrets, loggias and mixed materials: stone, brick, iron, timber and glass. Badly damaged by arson in 1962, it has been restored and reopened. Entry is free.
