The story
A 16th-century Branciforte palace which from 1801 housed the Monte di Santa Rosalia, a pawn-lending institution. The most striking space is the pledge hall, with imposing multi-level wooden racking, restored by Gae Aulenti and reopened in 2012. The collections cover archaeology, majolica, numismatics, philately, a historic library and the Cuticchio family's puppets.
