The story
Founded in 1975 by the physician and anthropologist Antonio Pasqualino, it preserves over five thousand pieces: Sicilian pupi of the Palermo and Catania schools, marionettes, glove puppets and shadow theatres from China, India, Indonesia, Africa and Southeast Asia. The Opera dei Pupi has been on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2008. The museum has its own theatre.
