The story
A Catalan Gothic palace built in the late 15th century by Matteo Carnilivari for Francesco Abatellis. Since 1954 it has housed the Regional Gallery, with a display designed by Carlo Scarpa, considered one of the high points of 20th-century European museography. Highlights: the great Triumph of Death fresco, Antonello da Messina's Annunciate, and Francesco Laurana's bust of Eleanor of Aragon.
