The story

Founded by the Franciscans in the 13th century, it retains its original façade with a zig-zag banded portal and rose window. The interior, returned to its medieval form after war damage, holds statues by Giacomo Serpotta along the nave and, above all, the arch of the Mastrantonio Chapel carved by Francesco Laurana and Pietro de Bonitate in 1468: the first fully Renaissance work documented in Sicily.
