The story
Decorated by Giacomo Serpotta from 1685, this is considered the summit of his output. The walls are punctuated by fifteen stucco 'little theatres' illustrating the Mysteries of the Rosary, flanked by female allegories and hundreds of putti. On the entrance wall, a large relief depicts the Battle of Lepanto. The altarpiece is Carlo Maratta's Madonna of the Rosary, sent from Rome in 1695. The wooden benches are inlaid with mother-of-pearl and ebony.
